FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where does an M7 sit in the medical oxygen cylinder range?
The M7 is one of the smaller portable sizes, chosen where the cylinder has to be carried or mounted and capacity matters less than size and weight. Larger portables such as the M22 Jumbo D and fixed sizes such as the M122 sit above it. The specifications for this cylinder are listed on this page.
Is an M7 the same as a "C" cylinder?
Size naming in medical oxygen uses both letter and M-number conventions and the mapping is not always consistent between suppliers. Order against the M-number and the published specifications rather than the letter alone, and confirm the valve type, since that is what determines compatibility with equipment.
What is a CGA870 post valve?
It is the yoke-style connection used on smaller portable medical oxygen cylinders, where a regulator clamps onto the valve post rather than threading in. It is not interchangeable with the threaded CGA540 used on larger cylinders. Confirm your regulator matches before use.
Does the cylinder ship filled with oxygen?
No. It ships empty. Medical oxygen is a prescription drug product in the United States, and filling is done by licensed medical gas fillers under the applicable regulatory requirements. All Safe Global supplies the cylinder as a container to the trade and does not supply medical oxygen gas.
Who is this cylinder sold to?
It is sold wholesale to medical gas distributors, licensed fillers, home care providers and healthcare supply organizations. All Safe Global does not sell single cylinders to patients or members of the public.
Why aluminum for a portable cylinder this size?
At this size weight is the deciding factor, and aluminum is substantially lighter than steel for the same capacity while not rusting. That is why it is the standard construction for small portable medical oxygen cylinders.
What does DOT and TC approval mean?
The cylinder is manufactured and marked to United States Department of Transportation and Transport Canada specifications, which permits filling and transport in those markets. The specification, serial number and test date are stamped on the cylinder and read before every fill.
When does an M7 cylinder need requalification?
On a set DOT interval from the test date stamped on the cylinder. Fillers check that date at every fill and refuse an out of date cylinder. For a rotating fleet, scheduling requalification ahead of the date avoids cylinders being pulled from service unexpectedly.
Can All Safe Global requalify small medical oxygen cylinders in volume?
Yes. We operate DOT-authorized requalification centers with hydrostatic and ultrasonic testing and visual inspection. Cylinders returning to oxygen service require hydrocarbon-free preparation, which is part of that work. Fleet requalification is quoted per cylinder.
Can we order M7 cylinders in volume with a specific valve configuration?
Yes. We supply distributors, licensed fillers and home care providers at wholesale, and we stock a range of valves alongside the cylinders. Send quantity, valve requirement and delivery point for a quote with availability and freight.
